Another Jamaica has made her way to the American big screen. The Voice season 6 kicks off with all the judges fighting for yet another Jamaican artiste in the race.
Check out dis Anti-Rape Device.
Rape has become endemic in South Africa, so a medical technician named Sonette Ehlers developed a product for woman to fight back. Ehlers had never forgotten a rape victim telling her forlornly, "If only I had teeth down there."
Ehlers created a product she called Rapex. It resembles a tube, with barbs inside. The woman inserts it like a tampon and any man who tries to rape the woman impales himself on the barbs and must go to an emergency room to have the Rapex removed.
Some critics say this is a medieval punishment.
What do you think?

In a public post on the Jamaica Infomation Service (JIS) website Jamaica should be on the lalert for ebola. There are no reported cases of the Ebola virus in Jamaica at this time. The Ministry of Health has ultimate oversight for the surveillance and response strategies to any possible cases of the virus in Jamaica.
What is Ebola?
Ebola, formerly known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, is a viral illness that is often severe and fatal in humans. According to the World Health Organisation, WHO, the initial symptoms include fever, weakness, muscle pain and sore throat, all of which can be overlooked as symptoms of common illnesses.
However as the virus spreads through the body the symptoms become more acute and include vomiting, diarrhoea and – in some cases – both internal and external bleeding.
Ebola has a mortality rate of 90%.
While Ebola outbreaks usually occur in remote villages in Central and West Africa, near tropical rainforests, accelerated global travel has increased the risk for the virus to present itself in countries where Ebola was not previously a health risk.
As a result several countries are making preparations to respond to any possible Ebola cases to prevent further human-to-human transmission.
They announced their divorce last week and it seems increasingly unlikely that the split between Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa will be an amicable one.
The formerly loved-up couple, who have a one-year-old-son, have been taking pot shots at each other since news of their separation became public.
And now, it is being reported that the cropped-haired model filed divorce papers the day after she discovered the rapper with another woman at 2am, according to TMZ.
The curvaceous 30-year-old allegedly made the shock discovery when she arrived unannounced at the home Wiz had recently moved in to following the breakdown of their marriage.
The showbiz website, citing sources close to the Black And Yellow star, said he made it perfectly clear to his wife that the marriage was dead two weeks prior - and refutes claims he was cheating.
Sources told the website that Wiz said: 'I just didn't want to be married to her anymore,'
Apparently there was also tension between the pair because Wiz refused to allow his wife to accompany him on his Under The Influence tour.
A Seattle woman has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a man's home and raping him while he slept.
According to The Smoking Gun, 28-year-old Chantae Gilman somehow accessed the victim's apartment one night in June 2013. The 31-year-old told police that he had attended a birthday party for a neighbor, who Gilman also knows. He awoke to find Gilman on top of him, pinning his hands behind his head.
Gilman ignored his orders to get off of him, yet he somehow managed to free himself and force her out of his apartment. During questioning, Gilman told authorities that she did not know the man, nor did she remember forcing herself on him. The Smoking Gun notes that Detective Roger Ishimitsu said Gilman told them that she suffers from both psychosis and bi-polar disorder.
Gilman's DNA matched what was discovered during the man's sexual assault examination, and she was charged with second-degree rape on Monday.
According to a post from (CNN) -- On May 27, Margaret Awino gave birth to Paul Mukisa with the help of her mother-in-law inside her home in Nabigingo, a small village in eastern Uganda. But instead of joy and jubilation for the birth of her fifth child, the 28-year-old mother was shocked: her newborn son had been born with four legs and four arms.
The family rushed to a nearby district hospital for help but they were quickly referred to Mulago Hospital in the Ugandan capital of Kampala. There, a team of doctors examined the infant and made the diagnosis of "parasitic twinning," a variant of conjoint twinning in which one of the twins is not fully developed -- baby Paul had been born with a full set of arms and legs and another set from a headless and heartless mirror image twin that never fully grew.
The Ugandan doctors ran a series of tests on the eight-limbed newborn which showed that the host and parasitic twin shared part of the pelvic bone. Examinations of Paul's internal organs revealed further abnormalities: his heart was on the right side of his body, instead of the left, while his liver was on the left side as opposed to the right.
Doctor heals broken hearts
After these initial investigations, Paul was discharged home for three months as the surgeons wanted to allow him to grow before performing an operation to separate the twins.
Finally, on August 18, a Ugandan team of three surgeons, three anesthesiologists and two nurses successfully completed a three-hour operation to remove parts of the parasitic twin from the normal body.
KINGSTON, Jamaica – After scouring an expanse of white-capped waters off Jamaica for three days, rescuers lost hope of finding a prominent New York couple or recovering wreckage of their small plane that traveled on a ghostly journey last week after the pair was apparently incapacitated.
On Sunday, the Jamaican military and the U.S. Coast Guard both decided to suspend air-and-sea searches for Laurence and Jane Glazer, whose single-engine plane flew on its own for 1,700 miles Friday before running out of fuel and slamming into deep waters some 14 miles off Port Antonio on Jamaica's northeast coast.
U.S. Coast Guard Capt. Todd Coggeshall, chief of response management, said the agency called off search-and-rescue operations with "extremely great care and deliberation." He said a decision is made to suspend a search only after the "area is saturated several times with a maximum number of assets, resources and crew effort, and persons in distress are still not located."
another royal bundle of joy is expected to be a bonanza for the British economy, tempered only by the “baby fatigue” that often sets in with second children (sorry, Harry!).
With the announcement this weekend that Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting a second child, the cash is already starting to roll into the royal baby (and royal baby betting) industry. When Prince George of Cambridge was born in July of 2013, it was predicted that he would give a $400 million boost in sales of food, drink, souvenirs and media to the nearly $2.5 trillion British economy. His new sibling could likewise give another kick to U.K. businesses.
Experts caution that there is something of a "been there, done that" effect with this new birth, however.
Revised Consular Service Fees
Effective September 12, fees for certain consular services, including visa applications and the renunciation of U.S. citizenship, are being changed to better reflect actual processing costs to U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide.
Fees for family-based and fiancé(e) immigrant visas will increase, while fees for employment-related immigrant visas will decrease. Fees for the Visitors’ Visa (B1/B2) have not changed.
Fees for family-based immigrant visas, commonly known as “filings,” will increase from US$230 to US$325. These include immigrant visa petitions filed by family members in the U.S., such as spouses, parents, adult children, and siblings.
Fiancé(e) visas, known as “K” visas, will increase from US$240 to US$265. Employment-based immigrant visa petitions, however, will decrease from the current US$405 to US$345.
Jamaica is forging ahead with plans to offer economic citizenship, well placed government sources have revealed.
The revelation comes less than a year after Transport, Works and Housing Minister Dr Omar Davies said in parliament that the government is to undertake a review of applicable laws and procedures in light of possible requests from Chinese investors for citizenship through investment.

LUMBERTON, N.C. (AP) — One of North Carolina's longest-serving death-row inmates and his half brother are being freed after three decades in prison after another man's DNA was discovered on a cigarette butt left near the body of a girl the siblings were convicted of killing.
On Tuesday, a judge overturned the convictions of Henry McCollum, 50, and Leon Brown, 46, in the 1983 rape and murder of Sabrina Buie, citing the new evidence that they didn't commit the crime. The ruling is the latest twist in a notorious legal case that began with what defense attorneys said were coerced confessions from two scared teenagers with low IQs. McCollum was 19 at the time and Brown was 15. Superior Court Judge Douglas Sasser said the new DNA results contradicted the case prosecutors put forward.
He said he was vacating their convictions and ordering their release "based on significant new evidence that they are, in fact, innocent."
Family members of the men gasped and some sobbed as the judge announced his decision to the packed courtroom. Brown smiled and shook a defense lawyer's hand and McCollum looked spent and relieved
"We waited years and years," said James McCollum, Henry McCollum's father. "We kept the faith."
Chris Brown pleaded guilty on Tuesday to hitting a man outside a Washington hotel, an assault that occurred while the singer was on probation for attacking his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
Brown pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and was sentenced to time served. He spent two days in a Washington jail in this case.
The Grammy-winning singer was arrested in October. The victim told police Brown hit him after he tried to get in a picture the singer was taking with two women.
Brown had previously pleaded not guilty in the case. His trial had been set for April, but it was delayed.
According to a report by Loop News, Vybz Kartel could appeal his murder conviction as early as the first quarter of 2015. The incarcerated entertainer is reportedly looking forward to the appeal as well. The entertainer and his co-accused had filed preliminary grounds for appeal when they filed their notice of appeal in April, shortly after their conviction and sentence. Among the grounds are unfair trial, miscarriage of justice and lack of evidence.
Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Kahria Jones and Andre St John were sentenced to life imprisonment for the August 16, 2011 murder of friend Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. Williams was beaten to death at a house owned by Palmer, in Havendale, St Andrew, over the disappearance of two illegal gangs. His body has not been found. In voice notes played for the jurors in the 65-day long trial in the Home Circuit Court, Kartel said that Williams’ body was chopped up “fine-fine like mincemeat”. Kartel is to serve 35 years in prison before he becomes eligible for parole. Campbell and Jones are to serve 25 years before becoming eligible for parole, while St John is to become eligible for parole after serving 30 years of his sentence. The men were convicted on March 13. A fourth accused, Shane Williams, was found not guilty by the 11-member jury.
Jamaicans who use PayPal as an income stream have only one option to transfer this money to Jamaica – by requesting a cheque from PayPal and depositing it at a local bank. This process is long and tedious and, quite frankly, ridiculous in this modern age. It’s super easy to get and comes at a very low-cost, compared to the benefits.
The 81 Day Wait (The Old Way)Yes, 81 days. That’s how long it usually takes to get access to your money earned on PayPal when using commercial banks in Jamaica. After requesting a cheque at a cost of US$5.00 , which is usually approved within 4-6 business days, it takes a maximum of 45 days for them to mail the cheque to you. It then takes the bank 31 days to cash an international cheque, which must be deposited into an account. If you don’t have a bank account, no luck. Along with the long wait comes with our unreliable postal system and that PayPal charges an extra US$15 and 7 business days to cancel a cheque and put the money back into your account if it doesn’t arrive. NICE!
How would you like to bring that 81 day wait time down to 3 days? This is where Payoneer comes in.
Payoneer is an Internet-based financial services business that allows users to transfer money and receive payments through re-loadable prepaid MasterCard debit cards. (Source: Wikipedia)
Payoneer enables non-US residents to receive money from US companies. Their cards allow you to receive direct payments from clients, receive money earned through affiliate companies and transfer money between cards. For the purpose of this article, we’ll be focusing on their US Payment Service and how it fits in with PayPal.
The US Payment Service provides you with a US account and routing number to receive payments from US companies with which you work. Payments received to your US Payment Service account are loaded to your Payoneer card.

How To Set It Up – 5 Easy Steps
Step 1 – Sign up for your Payoneer account CLICK HERE (That’s an affiliate link that gives us both $25 when you load your first $100 to your card). They will then review the information provided. Once they approve your application, Payoneer will mail you a MasterCard prepaid debit card. They will also give an estimated date of arrival (about a month’s time). This date is usually right – I got mine on the exact date it they told me it would arrive.
Step 2 – You will get an email requesting confirmation of your identity using a scan/photograph of your passport, driver’s license or national ID. Go ahead and fill those in. You will not be able to use the US Payment Service otherwise.
Step 3 – Once you get the card, activate it by logging into your account and inputting the card information and PIN.
Step 4 – Log into PayPal (I’m assuming you already have an account, if not, set one up), click on ‘Profile’, select ‘Add/Edit Bank Account’. Input the information from the US Payment Profile page of your Payoneer account (bank name, account number, routing number and account type). PayPal has indicated that they sometimes have some issues here, so if it doesn’t go through, don’t panic, just call PayPal and a customer service agent will help you.
Step 5 – Initiate a transfer from PayPal to Payoneer. You will get a notification from PayPal once the transfer is complete, typically after 2-3 days. That’s it! Your money is now on your card, which you can use at any ATM or point-of-sale location which accepts MasterCard worldwide.
FeesSetup is free. There are no costs to apply or receive your card.
There is an annual fee of US$29.95 deducted from the available balance each year. You should expect the first deduction to be made from your first transfer.
Payoneer charges a fee of 1% of the payment amount for each transfer from PayPal. You will not have to pay the above-mentioned US$5.00 to PayPal since bank account transfers are free, unlike cheque requests.
ATM withdrawals cost US$3.15 per transaction, along with the relevant local ATM fees and currency conversion fees. You will have to check with each bank individually for these. (While you’re at it, check out Gordon Swaby’s post on debit card charges for Jamaican banks.)
UPDATE: NCB ATMs don’t charge anything to withdraw cash but Scotia ATMs charge ~JMD$250. The card doesn’t seem to work with other bank ATMs.
Point-of-sale transactions (swiping your card) are free, however currency conversion charges up to 3% may apply. (MasterCard determines this but I’m not sure how, if anyone can help, please comment below with details.)
Fee chart available here.

What You Need to KnowYou don’t need a local or international bank account to use Payoneer.
You can use your Jamaican address for registration and billing and for your PayPal account. No masking necessary.
The card is not a credit card! If you try to use it at an ATM without money on it, the machine may eat your card. There are also charges for checking balances and declined transactions at ATMs.
You can use your Payoneer card to buy things online just like you would use a credit card. Payoneer advises against using it for free trials, however, because if the trial period lapses and a company charges your card, you are liable for that payment.
There are no extra fees or charges for your card being inactive so I suggest you get it before you need it!
Get more Payoneer FAQs here.
Tips for Minimizing CostUse the card directly (point-of-sale) as much as possible, and avoid withdrawing cash. Although currency conversion charges are deducted in both instances, you will be eliminating withdrawal fees.
Select your ATM carefully since charges vary by bank.
UPDATE: Use NCB ATMs – they don’t charge any extra fees to withdraw Jamaican dollars and you get a better exchange rate than most cambios.
Withdraw the maximum amount you can when you use an ATM since the charge is a flat fee. This amount will be determined by the amount of money on your card, the ATM limit, or your card limit, whichever is lower.

Accoring to the Jamaica Star, Dancehall selector Foota Hype is dismissing claims that there is an ongoing feud between himself and JA Productions boss, Justus Arison, after the selector banned Arison from attending his weekly event recently.
The alleged bad blood between the two started over a week ago, after Foota Hype allegedly shut off the sound at his weekly session 'Gallis Wednesdays' while Mavado's title track High Life, on Arison's rhythm of the same name was being played.
Arison said: "The man walk in and turn off the sound inna the middle of the song. I thought he was going to say something over the mic, but him just stop the riddim from play, and kill the vibes in his own party."
But Foota Hype refuted the allegations. He told THE STAR that the music was turned off to begin his set.
"I didn't know what was playing, and him just come and say 'play back di song, play back di song!' I didn't know what he was talking about ... but it was my time to play and they cut off the song and I introduced myself. It was just the timing, I go on at the same time every Wednesday," he said.
The following day after the event, Foota Hype took to social networking site Instagram and declared: "Effective immediately from the promoters of #galliswednesdays, Justus of JA Productions is officially banned from entering the premises of Limelight Nightclub hwt on a Wednesday night no matter which star, superstar or regular person he is rolling with. This is based on his disrespectful and disorderly conduct last night."
