Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have “come out” to the world with their views on gay marriage and gay parenting, and darned if they don’t sound like….(gasp)… conservatives!
In an interview with Italian magazine Panorama, the pair said, “The only family is the traditional one. No chemical offspring and rented uterus. Life has a natural flow; there are things that cannot be changed.”
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The US State Department on Friday released its 2014 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices.
In its report for Jamaica, the US said, while the Government has not limited the use of Internet access, there are reasons to believe that private online conversations by citizens have been monitored by the Government.
"The Government did not restrict or disrupt access to the Internet or censor online content," a section of the report said under its Internet Freedom category.
"There were credible reports, however, that the Government monitored private online communications without appropriate legal authority," it read.
TAMPA, USA— Greg Baker got the call late Sunday night from the manager of Fodder & Shine, one of two restaurants he owns in Seminole Heights.
Two men had forced their way through the back door, held the employees at gunpoint, forced them to hand over cash and personal property, and left.
"I'm pretty angry," Baker said Monday about the robbery.
But not worried. Baker said he has lived in Seminole Heights on and off for 25 years. He opened his first restaurant, the Refinery, on N Florida Avenue in 2009. When he first moved to the area, he said property crimes like burglary were common,
But now, in a neighborhood that's seen a flurry of restaurants and businesses open in the past several years, Baker said incidents like Sunday's robbery are the exception.
"This was a bunch of opportunists who came in and got what they thought were easy pickings," he said.
Police agree. Overall, crime in the district has gone down significantly, said police spokeswoman Andrea Davis.
"It's a totally different place than it was 10 years ago," said Davis, who also used to live in the neighborhood.
Police arrested three men Monday in the restaurant robbery. They are identified as Darrell L. Poole, 26, and Alexander Jackson, 23, who allegedly went into the restaurant, and Devin L. Smith, who drove the getaway car. Jackson is a "career offender with several convictions for commercial robbery," a police report said, and Poole was arrested in the past on charges of firearm possession and burglary.
Davis said the robbery at Fodder & Shine might be connected to a string of similar incidents over the past several days. One happened late Friday at the Independent Bar and Cafe, about half a mile south of Fodder & Shine on Florida Avenue. Police said Sunday that two men wearing ski masks entered the restaurant through the back door, made the employees give them cash at gunpoint, and left.
Owner Veronica Danko opened the Independent in 2009, after friends encouraged her to set up shop in Seminole Heights. She said the bar and cafe once had a break-in and an attempted break-in, but overall she said she never felt unsafe in the neighborhood.
"I don't feel like we're subject to constant violence," she said. "We always have more than one person leaving together — that's a rule — and everyone's cautious. But we've all felt safe until this."
After the robbery at the Independent, police were "saturating" the area with patrols, Davis said. So when the robbers ran out the back door of Fodder & Shine and into the getaway car, a police helicopter quickly spotted them, and officers gave chase.
Police cars got the alleged robbers' car to stop by using a PIN maneuver — when a police car runs into a vehicle it's pursuing, causing it to spin out of control — and the men fled on foot. Police caught them after hitting Smith with a stun gun, Davis said. All three were being held in jail Monday, and police now expect the area to calm down.
"By arresting these three suspects, I think we're going to see a dramatic difference in what's going on in Seminole Heights," Davis said.
In the wake of the robbery at the Independent, Danko said she is considering adding more lighting in the back of the building. But what happened Friday night, she said, speaks to the nature of owning a restaurant — not to the neighborhood.
"It just reminds you to be cautious at all times when you have a business and are handling money," she said.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Friday declared that nothing will change the definition of marriage, despite the Supreme Court's ruling that same-sex couples in the U.S. have the right to marry.
"Today’s ruling by five Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court marks a radical departure from countless generations of societal law and tradition. The impact of this opinion on our society and the familial fabric of our nation will be profound. Far from a victory for anyone, this is instead a dilution of marriage as a societal institution," Paxton said in a statement.
Ronald Hammond took a bad plea deal which ended up landing him in prison for a 20 year sentence.
The Baltimore resident pleaded guilty to possession of only 5.9 grams of marijuana hoping that the judge would take it easy on him. But the 31-year-old never imagined he would be sentenced to two decades in prison for an offense so minor.
Now, Hammond has won an appeal Wednesday invalidating that plea. Legal experts say this raises the possibility that he will be released, but does not guarantee it just yet.
Baltimore District Judge Askew Gatewood told prosecutors that “5.9 grams won’t roll you a decent joint” and deceptively suggested that Hammond accept the plea and simply pay a fine.

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) has announced a special summer fare for adult commuters as part of its “strategy to increase ridership”.
Effective Sunday, July 5, 2015, all adult fares on the JUTC’s regular service will be offered at a flat rate of $100. This is expected to continue until Saturday, August 29, 2015.
The JUTC said its premium and express services will not be included in the special summer fare arrangement.
The special summer fare will benefit all passengers who fall within the category of adult commuters, including students between the ages of 12 and 20 in uniform who customarily do not get concession fares during the summer months and other holidays as well as on weekends.
Managing Director Colin Campbell said, “This limited summer special is to induce these commuters to take our buses and experience the JUTC service. To see that the ride on our spacious, reliable, air-conditioned buses with our courteous staff, is more than worth the extra $20.”
“We are hoping that those who were not our regular commuters will be convinced that they should switch to the JUTC after taking advantage of our summer special of $100 adult fare for most of the months of July and August.”
The JUTC has increased its passenger load between 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 by almost six million. In the 2013-2014 year the figure was 52,300,000 compared with 58, 259,000 for the 2014-2015 period.
Dancehall artist Deva Bratt is on the run in the United States after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Bratt, who has been based in Florida for the last few years, has his legal troubles grew deeper when he missed a court date earlier this month. A judge immediately issued a warrant for his arrest but cops have been unable to find him ever since.
Deva Bratt, born Sheldon Smith, was to appear in court on a traffic violation in West Palm Beach. The dancehall deejay was pulled over and cited for driving without a valid licence.
Sources close to the deejay, told Urban Islandz that he could be deported to Jamaica upon his arrest or worse case could be sent to jail.
“He could be deported back to Jamaica if he is arrested,” our source said. “He will most likely held without bail also so the longer he is on the run is the worse things get for him.”
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Eight prisoners are still on the run after escaping from a police lock-up in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland on Friday.
The police today renewed its appeal to members of the public for assistance in recapturing them.
Reports are that about 12:45 am, during a routine check of the facilities, it was discovered that the men made their escape through a hole they made in the roof of a cell.
Take that. Take that. Take that.
It only took 50 Cent a few minutes to put together a video mocking his rap mogul adversary Diddy -- and it's pretty hilarious.
While managing to promote his vodka line and his cable TV show, Fiddy explains how Diddy is locked up at UCLA because "sh*t got real with the coach!"
50 and Diddy have been going after each other in public for years ... and most of the time it's been pretty funny.
Think Diddy will laugh when he sees this? Or try to hit 50 with a kettlebell (allegedly)?
Amber Rose didn't simply remove her massive arm tattoo of baby daddy Wiz Khalifa ... she got a massive NEW tattoo right over it.
Rose debuted her new rose-themed arm sleeve in the least subtle way possible -- a video with her arm positioned perfectly for the camera. BFF Blac Chyna panned up and down Amber's bod, but for once something managed to upstage her ass.
We got Rose at a famous tattoo removal place on Saturday with her arm bandaged. Now it's clear she ditched Wiz for good ... artistically, speaking.
