Drake's most recent mixtape, "If You're Reading This It's Too Late," finally broke the platinum threshold on Monday by selling 1 million copies in the US since being released in February.
Drake is the first artist who released a record this calendar year and achieved such an accomplishment.
What's more is that it's Drake's fourth record in a row that has received platinum status, which means selling at least 1 million copies.
Drake's mixtape sold over a million copies worldwide earlier this year, but most people look at US sales when referring to certifications.
Even just two or three years ago, many artists sold huge amounts of albums, some even eclipsing the 1 million mark in less than a week. That rarely happens anymore, though.
The last artist to sell at least 1 million copies of an album was Taylor Swift, with her record "1989," which was released in October 2014 and went platinum in November that year.
It's now harder than ever to actually sell music, even at the highest level. The emergence of music-streaming services has been incredibly detrimental to album sales in the past, and it will only get worse in the future.
We're back with this week with Artist Profile, switching things up just a little bit. This week in the hot seat is Norris Adrian Burrell (NB) who goes by his stage name Jolly Kavalli. He is a talented up-and-coming Jamaican recording artiste who developed a passion and tenacity for his native music since the age of seven.
He was motivated by his stepfather, the late Jah Son to pursue a career in the music industry. His inspiration comes from his travelling days, being introduced to different cultures and slangs which he later adapted into his work. Lets take a closer look into his journey.

“He outchea looking more Degrassi and less Philly than Drake” Said Maybach Music Ceo Rick Ross about the ongoing beef with Meek and Drake.
Drake lit up the OVO Fest last night with back drops of Internet memes, and dissing the Philadelphia rapper in a way that set the internet on fire.
“THE MAYBACH BRAND IS EXCELLENCE. WE REPRESENT THE STREETS. WE TOTE GUNS, MAKE QUALITY MUSIC AND EAT 25 PIECE LEMON PEPPER WINGS FOR ONLY $14.99 FROM WING STOP” – RICK ROSS
Rick Ross says he will let Meek Mill keep the Maybach chain, the cars, but not the house he provided for the rapper after he went broke during his 5 month stint in jail “I hear Nicki has a nice crib. If you gonna wife a n**ga! The least you can do is let him stay at ya crib.”
As 50 Cent continues to go through the proceedings of filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy, his legal team recently turned over 56 pages of financial information that paint a clearer picture of 50's situation. The documents include financial details for his total amount of assets, debts, complete monthly expenses, his mansion, child support, and more.
In total, his current debts are standing at over $32 million, while his assets sit at just over $24 million. In a previous court appearance, 50 claimed that his flashy lifestyle was all fake, though the newly filed court documents shows that he owns over $500,000 in cars, and spends $108,000 a month in expenses. 50 also has to deal with his outstanding child support debt, which currently sits at $855,091 and is something that doesn't go away when you file for chapter 11 bankruptcy. As far as his business ventures go, 50's most valuable is in G-Unit Records, which is currently worth $2.7 million.
Somehow, the L's continue to pile up for Meek Mill, and the latest has nothing to do with his ongoing beef with Drake. According to TMZ, the likes of Khloe Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, and more were just added to an ongoing lawsuit filed against Meek for an unauthorized house party he had earlier this year. Meek and company reportedly trashed a rental house during Grammys weekend, even though the owner of the house warned him not to host any parties—actually, he wasn't allowed to have more than six people at the residence.
As of now, Meek has refused to negotiate with the owner of the house on the amount of payment for the damages, and thus they have added the A-list celebrity guest list from the party to the lawsuit. If Meek refuses to settle, the lawyer for the homeowner reportedly plans to depose each celebrity that was in attendance and find out what happened to the house. No word on if Meek plans to settle the case, but we will continue to update with more details as they're made available.
Snoop Dogg left Italy $205,000 lighter on Saturday after police seized money from him at an airport in Calabria.
During a normal check at Lamezia Terme, the rapper was found with $422,820 in U.S. cash, a police source told CNN. The maximum amount of cash that passengers traveling through Italy can carry without declaring it is €10,000 ($11,010.25). The rules were put in place to prevent money laundering.
To be exact, Italian Finance Police seized $205,933, the source said.
The rapper arrived in the country's southern region earlier this week in his private jet for a performance in the village of Montepaone. He told police that the cash was to pay his band for concerts in Italy and elsewhere, the source said.
Snoop Dogg then left for London. The finance police will open an investigation into the Italian concert and how the rapper was paid.
It was not clear whether the rapper can appeal to get the money back. Representatives for Snoop did not respond to calls and emails requesting comment.
