Reggae artiste Chuck Fenda is again denying allegations of being intimately involved with fellow reggae artiste Cherine Anderson.
Back in 2006, the two released a song called Coming Over Tonight, which sparked rumours that the two were intimately involved. Now, fast forward six years later and another collaboration between the two in late 2011 titled Call On Me, and rumours have once again surfaced, this time that the female songstress could be pregnant for Fenda.
However, Chuck Fenda who is currently working on a new reggae album, disclosed that his relationship with Cherine is strictly musical, and that he is focused on the completion of his album and holding up the torch for reggae music. "Me and Cherine just have a musical chemistry. Call On Me is a powerful song, we always come out with a hit and people embrace and feel it," he said. "It's strictly musical, mi love har as a good singer and we do good music. All over the world people ask me if we are together and if mi seh no dem nuh believe, so sometimes mi not even pay dem nuh mind," he added.
Chuck Fenda is currently working with reggae producer Jon Jon to produce his upcoming untitled roots reggae album. According to the artiste, the international audience is asking for more reggae from Jamaica. "This album is a roots album because a reggae wi represent. Internationally, the demand is great and the international media is saying they want more reggae," he said. Chuck Fenda also commented on the current situation where notable reggae artistes have decided to venture into dancehall. He believes the move to be something to scoff at. "Mi just laugh after reggae artiste who switch from the foundation. People know you as one type of artiste and if they notice that you switch spiritually they won't take you serious. Some of this is just hype," Fenda said.
The artiste believes that local disc jockeys need to get a chance to tour other countries, in an effort to compete with the progression of other countries that subscribe to reggae music. "These selectors need to see the wider world so they can best understand their responsibility. We can't just look on today, we have to look five to 10 years down the line," he continued. "Mi just know seh a reggae mi represent suh wi just have to know how to balance the ting better," he concluded. Producer Jon Jon also had high hopes for Chuck Fenda's upcoming album classifying the project as the best.
"Just expect the best, me and Chuck Fenda a work fi years, we started with natural energy and everything that I am mixing sounds good. Some of the songs will be mixed by Bobby Digital and Truck Back records because unity is strength. We have some collaborations coming soon so it's a good look for Chuck Fenda," Jon Jon said. In the meantime, Cherine is also making moves of her own. Eagles & Doves, a single from the songstress, was, last week, chosen as KISS FM's 'Kiss Fresh Track of the Week'. The song is produced by Dream Queen and Shadow for the Dancehall-Soul Label. The track is the follow-up to Cherine's How We Living. Eagles & Doves became available on iTunes and on Amazon a few days ago.
Numerous attempts to contact Cherine have been unsuccessful.
