The Calabar high school old boy has been busy in the studio working with some of the biggest names in the industry including Don Corleone, for whom he recorded Talk, and TJ Records on which he recorded Baddist, that has been doing well on the airwaves. He also has a song in the pipeline, Touch Her Mek She Fall Inna Love on the 'Peenie Wallie' rhythm, and he has recorded other songs for Cash Flow Records as well as Equanox.
Apparently, promoters have been taking him seriously too as the up-and-coming entertainer has been booked to share the stage with hip hop giant Rick Ross on the Best of Summer concert set for the Urban Development Corporation Parking lot on June 22. Masicka said he feels honoured to have been recognised and invited to perform on the show.
"It's a good feeling. We have put in the hard work and it is beginning to pay off," he said.
"It's a good look to be booked for the Rick Ross Concert."
The Heineken Best of Summer Concert will also feature performances from local dancehall stars Tifa and Aidonia. Masicka, who also has a song out on iTunes, Wine Fi Mi Now, for Crash Dummy Productions, also has several tours lined up this summer including stops in the United States and the Caribbean. Dates have not yet been set as paperwork is ongoing, he said.
With a solid collection of songs that will also include Tek the Lead, he recorded for Marcus Records (and that song is currently on the Richie B weekly charts), Masicka believes he is ready to take on the world starting with the Best of Summer.
"It's time for me to make a name for myself, and Best of Summer is where everything will be unleashed," he said.
"The show will offer me a lot of exposure and I will show the people that it is my time now to take over dancehall."
It's a good feeling. We have put in the hard work and it is beginning to pay off.
